- About one hour of real time
Glimtide is a free life simulation that runs in the browser. Small jelly creatures called glims live on one shared island: they eat, sleep, talk, fall in love and pass their skills to their children. Everyone watches the same world in real time, and it keeps living when nobody is looking.
Glimtide is a life simulation from XPLOIT, an independent game studio, played for free at glimtide.io. There is exactly one world: an island in the ocean of Tidemere, home to small jelly creatures called glims. Every viewer sees the same island at the same moment, and it keeps living when the tab is closed.
Nobody controls the glims. Each one weighs its needs every few seconds and decides what to do: eat, sleep, chat with a neighbour, find a partner or build a nest. A glim lives for about an hour of real time. Skills such as swimming, climbing and building, and the knowledge of which foods are safe, pass from parents to children, so families slowly drift apart into new species. Climate belts, predators, sharks and disease keep the population in check without any hard limit.
Viewers can drop food, play with a glim and adopt one under a name of their own. Every action fills a shared tide, and when it is full the sea brings an event the island needs. A director picks the best moment to show, and a chronicle writes down the island's history. Signed-in players can design their own species and land it as a small tribe.
